Electronics Recycling Services

How Does The Process Work
Accepted Materials

We recycle most types of electronic equipment (Personal computers, CRT monitors, LCD monitors, keyboard/mouse etc.) click here for a list of available services and accepted items. Our process utilizes all avenues so this equipment does not end up filling our already overworked landfill. Items are sorted at our location, reusable items are tested and put back into the community, and obsolete or defective items are sorted by their respective components and forwarded to the appropriate organizations to go through the recycling process.

Many items can be accepted at no charge however due to the cost of processing some items are subject to a recycling fee. Please note that at present not all electronics can be accepted. Unfortunately we cannot accept equipment contaminated by medical or chemical substances, or batteries of any kind at this time.

How Does the Process Work?

When equipment comes in, either from a consumer or a business, it is assessed for usability.

  • Is it in saleable condition (clean and working, etc.)?
  • Is the technology current enough to be of use to someone who might not otherwise own a computer?
  • Is there a market for the equipment?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, we:

  • Wipe the hard drive to eliminate any existing data.
  • Clean accumulated dust from the power supply and chassis using compressed air.
  • Clean all external surfaces.
  • Test working condition to ensure a reasonable life expectancy.

If, on the other hand, the answer to all of the above questions is no, we:

  • Disassemble the unit, testing and keeping any usable parts.
  • Wipe the hard drive to eliminate any existing data.
  • Usable parts are sold or used to repair otherwise unserviceable units.

Unusable parts are separated into:

  • Electronic assemblies (circuit boards, power supplies, etc) (forwarded an Ontario Electronics Stewardship (OES) Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) program aproved recycling facility)
  • Monitor components (forwarded to OES for distrabution to an Ontario Electronics Stewardship (OES) Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) program aproved recycling facility)
  • Plastics (forwarded an Ontario Electronics Stewardship (OES) Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) program aproved recycling facility)
  • Metals (separated into different types and forwarded an Ontario Electronics Stewardship (OES) Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) program aproved recycling facility)
